Symbiotic is a restaking protocol that competes with EigenLayer in the shared-security category, with a more permissionless and modular design. Networks define their own slashing conditions and collateral requirements; restakers and operators opt in to specific networks rather than going through a single staking-and-restaking funnel.
The protocol supports a wide range of collateral assets beyond ETH, which differentiates it from EigenCloud’s ETH-centric model. Symbiotic is governed by its own network of vault, operator, and curator participants.
